Children festival introduces Bamyan girls to MMCC

In the school summer holiday a group of MMCC girls and boys traveled to Bamyan and made a one week workshop and festival for and with the children of Bamyan.

Besides being the first children festival in Bamyan, it was also the first time a mixed group of MMCC’s children artist toured within the country - outside Kabul. Last year we made a smaller tour with boys only. The aim of bringing girls as well this year, was to practically show the women and girls of Bamyan what the upcoming more permanent MMCC activities in the region can include. An important part of the festival therefore also included a special workshop for girls and woman conducted by MMCC’s girls together with our amazing female staff, Ostad Zahera. As a result of this part of the festival a special performance was made for girls and woman in addition to the final public event in front of the big Buddha. On the last day of the week all MMCC children and staff continued to the famous and beautiful Band-e-Amir where they made a performance for all the Friday-picnic-visitors near the blue blue lake.
